When used tires are a real option
Used tires get a bad rap. They should not. A good used tire from a reliable shop is a real option, not an apology.
Here is our standard. A used tire we sell has at least 6/32 tread depth. The legal minimum is 2/32, so we are clearing the bar by three times. No plug repairs in the sidewall. No dry rot. No flat-spotting. We turn down more used inventory than we sell.
Why used tires? Sometimes a customer drove over a nail and they are six months out from a new set. Sometimes the budget is tight and a single tire needs to match three good ones. Sometimes a vehicle is a few months from being sold and the owner does not want to put a brand-new set on it.
We sell used tires from $40, mounted and balanced. The price varies with brand, size, and remaining tread. We tell you what we see before you decide.
We do not sell tires we would not put on a family car. That is the standard. If we cannot find a used tire in your size that meets the standard, we say so. We also tell you what a new tire in the same size would cost, so you have both options on the table.
Where do our used tires come from? Customer trade-ins, mostly. When someone buys a new set with us and the old set still has good tread left, we offer to take them. If they pass our inspection, they go on the rack. If not, we recycle them through the proper waste stream. Nothing fishy.
Warranty on a used tire is shorter than on a new one. Manufacturer warranties do not transfer when tires are resold. We stand behind the install for 30 days the same way we do on a new tire: if our work caused a problem, we make it right. The tire itself is sold as inspected.
Used tires are a real option. They are not an apology. Walk in, ask about used inventory in your size, and we will show you what we have.
